Sing...Sing a Song!
Well, I've tried 5 times to upload some pictures for you to see. Blogger seems to be having issues, and I'm about ready to recommend a good therapist and some medication if they can't seem to get it together.
So I guess I'll just update you without pictures. You can just use your imagination until somebody over at Blogger gets things figured out.
I think the best thing she did this week was start to sing along when I'm singing tunes with her. Her favorite song seems to be "Once There Was A Snowman". The words go like this:
Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman.
Once there was a snowman, tall, tall, TALL!
In the sun he melted, melted, melted.
In the sun he melted, small, small, small.
She also likes to sing The Itsy, Bitsy Spider; Wheels on the Bus; Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam; and Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. There are a few others as well, but right now, I can't think of which ones they are.
I'll try to get the pictures posted later this evening. Stay tuned for Fashionista Lucy, Part II.

A Cute Lucy Moment
The other night, we were getting ready for a family prayer before bed, and Lucy didn't want to fold her arms or pray. So she hit my arm. I said, "Lucy, no hitting. If you hit me again, you'll get a time out." Well, she turned around and did it again so I said, "That's a time out for hitting." I took her over to the corner of the room and sat her down and counted to ten. Then she got up and I said, "Let's make good choices. No hitting."
She went right over to Daddy and hit him on the arm, then ran over to the corner where her time out was before, sat herself down and waited. We were trying so hard not to laugh as I counted to 10. After that she wouldn't come back over for the prayer until we had her baby doll fold its arms and we praised the doll for being ready for the prayer. Then Lucy wandered over and folded her arms so we would praise her too.
Well, I began to say the prayer, and Lucy started to talk (which she never does during the prayer) we heard her say "Hemee Far" (which I think was "Heavenly Father") then she used some gibberish punctuated by "Mama" "Daddy" "Elmo" "Baby" "Bed" and then she said, "Amen."
We were really excited. It is so rewarding to see that what we've been teaching her has been getting through. And her speech gets more clear every day. I find that I'm not having to guess what she wants as often as I used to. Being a parent is really cool. (Most days.)

New Year's Resolutions

I asked Lucy a couple of days ago if she had some New Year's Resolutions this year. She replied, "Yeah." So I said, "What are they?"
She babbled something back to me which I infer to mean one of two things:
A.) I'm going to work on talking better.
OR
B.) Mom, you're a weirdo.
Well, I'm beginning to think I was right on answer A. (Of course, answer B isn't that far off the mark either.) I am amazed at how much clearer her speech is becoming and how many more words she knows.
Just today, as we were heading off to the store, I told her I was going to go check the mail. She was right behind me and as I took the envelopes out of the mailbox she said, "Want mail please!" I couldn't believe that came from my Lucy!
It's so fun to see how much she is learning, and how cute it is when she says things that she knows we understand.
More to come!
There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays
We had a wonderful Christmas here at home, and also with family. We didn't take as many pictures as we would have liked to, but here's what's new!
Abby came over to play a couple days before Christmas. We covered the coffee table with white paper and gave the girls crayons. That lasted for about 10 minutes. For a snack, I gave each of them a mandarin orange and a chocolate chip cookie. Lucy ate her orange and then ate Abby's, and Abby ate her cookie and then ate Lucy's. That's what friendship is all about!
Here she is digging into her stocking. She wasn't too sure why we put such fun things into a furry sock.
The "horse on a stick" was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa K. She came out of her room on Christmas morning, took one look at it and said, "SHEEP!"
