Lucy Update!

It's been too long since I last posted. Many apologies to Lucy's fans--I know how it can be when you don't get your "Lucy fix"!

So here it is...not much going on lately around here. We're waiting anxiously for THE FIRST SNOW. Everybody we talk to says it'll be here any time, and since there have been warmer winters here the last couple of years, we're in for a big huge pile of white stuff. While we're waiting though, it's been plenty cold. I took Lucy for a walk this morning and by the time we got back her little nose was pink, and her hands were like ice because she refused to wear her mittens.

In other news...Lucy has been talking up a storm. She's getting better with her words, and we're getting better at translating the gibberish. Just in the last couple of days, she has started to say "Thanks, Mama." when I give her something. But the answer to any question she is asked is still: "Umm, yeah."

She knows what a cow says, and she knows what a kitty says. She also knows what a dog says, but when we ask, the answer is usually, "Moo."

We're headed West on Wednesday afternoon for the Thanksgiving weekend. Look for the next post some time next week! Lots of pictures to come!

Trick or Treat!

Aunt Lexie and Cousin Aiyanna came to visit for a couple of days, so Lucy and Aiyanna had fun on Halloween together. We got them all dressed up, then headed over to the church for their annual "Trunk or Treat". It was great. It lasted about 45 minutes, and Lucy snagged a bit of candy. A big THANK YOU to Grandma D. for making this darling Snow White costume. Lucy looked great in it. We couldn't get her to wear the read headband, though. We tried hard, but she wouldn't even let us get it near her head.

Aiyanna dressed up as Tinkerbell, complete with big wings (which she wasn't wearing for the picture...darn!) I think they could both be models for Disney. (It would certainly help pay for college!)

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do! On Monday, October 24th, we took Lucy to choose a couple of pumpkins. I had asked around about a fun pumpkin patch (we took Lucy to Schilter Family Farms in Nisqually last year--a very fun pumpkin patch), but no one really knew of a good one around here. Someone suggested we go out to Road 4...supposedly there was one near there.

So we loaded Lucy in the car, and headed down the country road. We looked and looked, but the only pumpkins we saw were sitting on someone's property. We decided to stop and ask if they knew where the pumpkin patch was, but they didn't know. Instead, they invited us to just choose a few pumpkins from their yard. And so we traipsed around on somebody's land looking for the perfect pumpkins of 2005.

Here are a few pictures of our outing:

Here we are last year...isn't it amazing how much she has grown?

Coming tomorrow...Halloween!
