Breaking News! Breaking News!

This just in...

Lucy is sleeping in her "Big Girl Bed". She is currently taking her second nap ever in this bed, and has successfully completed two whole nights of sleep in the bed in question. We've captured these images just 20 minutes ago:

Her mother had this to say: "I can't believe this is happening! She's not even 2 years old and is already growing too fast. Where does the time go? I remember how tiny she looked in her crib when she was just born, and now, she looks tiny in the twin-size. My little baby...not a baby anymore."

In case you were curious, Lucy is just as good about going to sleep in the big bed as she was going to sleep in the crib. No fussing, no crying, and miraculously, she stays in the bed until morning! (So far.)

So what's next for our little star? Potty training...? Stay tuned.

The Postman Always Rings Twice

And today, he brought us two packages. One came from Aunt D., and the other from Grandma and Grandpa K. The one from Grandma and Grandpa K. came in a huge box with lots of pink "bop-hmm" (popcorn). I finally talked Lucy into getting inside the box so I could take a few pictures. Enjoy!

"Are you sure I should get in? Maybe I should get out. Okay, I'll get in."

Little Red Riding Hood

I took this picture just before we left for church. This darling red jacket and hat was a gift I received from some coworkers at Saint Martin's University before Lucy was born. It finally fits and Lucy looks fabulous in it! (Even if I do say so myself!) The picture is a little blurry because Lucy was way too busy to hold still long enough for a crisp, clear picture. But you get the idea...

After church, I made sure we got a couple of her in the Christmas dress from Grandma and Grandpa K. She loves the way the skirt is a little puffy, and she twirled around the living room a few times too! Also notice in the last picture the beautiful color of her eyes. It seems like they turn a little more brown every day.

Here's one more picture I couldn't fit in anwhere else...little Miss Phone Call. I think it's cute as long as she doesn't call 911 or Taiwan.

Little Angel

This year, our Primary (the children's Sunday school program) is putting together a DVD of pictures of each of the children along with an audio track of them singing Christmas songs. They asked everyone to bring their kids dressed up as one of the characters from the nativity (that way it doesn't matter if there are 6 girls who want to be Mary, for example) so they could have their picture taken for this DVD.

And so one long-sleeved white T-shirt, an old white towel, a headband, and 10 feet of gold garland later, Lucy is transformed into a darling angel.

Let it Snow!

We got our first winter storm last week, and ended up with about 4 inches of snow. Lucy enjoys looking at the snow, and loves to point out the window and yell "Snow!" at the top of her lungs. She does this several times each day. She's mostly thrilled about going out to play in the show, as long as it's no deeper than an inch or so. She started crying little frozen tears when she realized that the snow was up to her ankles.

Daddy built this little snowman and put it in the window for her to see. Sadly, he only lasted a few days before the neighbor cat jumped up on the outside window sill and knocked him down. Now, we console ourselves by taking Lucy over to Wal-Mart about 3 times a week to see all the snowman decorations. She loves the inflatable snowglobe that goes out on the lawn. Here's a picture of a similar one (because walmart.com doesn't have theirs online). It's neat--it even snows inside the snowglobe. This is much easier to clean up than the real stuff.

Over the River and Through the Woods

Well, I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time visiting family, and a not so wonderful time after we came home. We all ended up with colds, and it doesn't help much that it's so frigid here I can freeze meat on my front porch. That's right--it's a whopping 22 degrees here. (According to weather.com, it feels like 11.)

Enough about the weather--you came to see pictures of Lucy! I'm ashamed to say that we were so busy enjoying ourselves that I didn't take many pictures of our Thanksgiving trip. But take heart! Here's one of Lucy and Aiyanna shortly after we arrived Wednesday afternoon.

Aiyanna had just awakened from a nap, so she's not looking too thrilled. She warmed up quickly though, once she realized that our arrival meant three more people to entertain her!
